Ishinomaki’s Sole Kōji Producer Back in Business!
In Ishinomaki, there used to be long-established Kōji (malted rice) producer with over 100-year history. When the 2011 earthquake and tsunami devastated the Miyagi’s port town, their house and office were completely destroyed. They were forced to stop their business.
Facing such an adversity, the factory’s sixth generation successor and his father sought Sendai city’s help.
With the city’s support, they have been able to reclaim their business and are going to open a store on November 3, 2014.
