Touhoku's recovery schedule is a website created to send the message that Touhoku is great, to Japan and the rest of the world.We want to add the story of Touhoku's recovery to Tohoku's recovery calendar, and by doing so, we want to show our support to people who are moving forward, and for「what's next」for Touhoku.

Kyōto-Miyagi Collaboration―Hanazushi

Hello, this is sushi aficionado Ōe.
Today, we introduce you the sushi shop Hanazushi that offers lavish saba-zushi (mackerel sushi) made with Miyagi specialties Kinka saba (mackerel) and Sasanishiki rice.

 

Hanazushi is located at Mori no Ichiba (“Market of Trees”) in the Wakabayashi Ward, Sendai. The sushi shop President Kazuki Itabashi set up the Hanazushi to spread saba-zushi culture which was not so familiar in Tōhoku.
But just before they started the business, the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake hit.

 

We interviewed Mr. Itabashi to hear his thoughts on their struggles following the disaster, present activities, and their future.
