Recently, a delegation from Somalia visited Japan.
We tagged along for the Ishinomaki portion of their visit.
East Africa’s Somalia has suffered the ravages of an ongoing civil war of more than two decades.
The government that does exist, though, is committed to recovery.
Ishinomaki is particularly appropriate because of the shared connection to fishing. This industry is sure to play a key role to coastal Somalia as it rebuilds.
