The opening ceremony of Rikuzentakata Civic Exchange Center took place on April 22 at Shimowano Disaster Public Housing. At the ceremony, Takashi Kubota, Deputy Mayor, greeted by saying, ‘Now, a place at which citizens can get together has finally completed. I hope you will stop by and deepen your relationship.” They had ribbon cutting ceremony with a lot of joy.
The facility is located at the first floor of Disaster Public Housing Building No.2. There are two rooms: “Consulting space” and “Interacting space,” and even beautiful paintings are hung on the wall.
Staff such as life support consultants are always present between 10AM to 3PM on weekdays, and anyone can use the facility.
Saichi Usui, the president of Residents Council of Shimowano Housing Complex talked to us delightedly: “ The sphere of activity of those who don’t own a car is very limited, and there are people who feel loneliness. So, I’m very happy that a facility like this has opened.
