Renewable Energy for Next Generation—Tidal Power Generation System
On November 12, at Tōhoku Dock Tekkō in Shiogama, Miyagi, report on a remarkable project was delivered.
The project is called Next-generation Energies for Tohoku Recovery (NET) and carried out cooperatively by Tōkyō University, Tōhoku University, and local companies
This day, the project presented its tidal power generation system. The system is planned to be placed in Sabusawa island in Shiogama.
Sabusawa Mayor Mr. Shimazu noted when electricity supply was stopped by the 2011 disaster in Sabusawa island, it took over a month to restore. Though this time, the system is used for refrigerator of a fishery cooperative, he wants to use it for living of islanders.
Renewable energy generated by the tide brings hope to not only Sabusawa island, but also whole Tōhoku as well!
