Miyagi Kawasaki Shin-soba Festival!!!
Konnichiwa! This is ariTV’s Ōzeki.
Now we are in October, and autumn deepens in Miyagi.
Speaking of autumn, it’s the season for harvest: rice, mushrooms, sanma (pacific saury), Japan pear, and chestnut.
In Sendai’s neighbor town Kawasaki, a festival featuring seasonal food took place.
The food is Shin-soba (new crop buckwheat)!! Soba (buckwheat) is in season during October and November. Kawasaki is renowned soba producer in Miyagi, and at this event, Kawasaki Shin-soba Festival offers 500 bowls of soba noodle made with shin-soba.
The festival has integrated Kawasaki’s multiple events celebrated harvest of shin-soba and this is the second time it was held.
This year’s venue was Miyagi Kawasaki St. Mary Ski Area which is larger than the last year’s.
Lots of visitors gathered at the venue to taste shin-soba. The soba noodle quickly sold out, and 200 hundred bottles of sake which was given to visitors as a gift went out of stock within an hour after the event opened.
Delectables attract people!
Visitors are also enthralled by demonstration of soba making by professionals.
Besides foods, Rakugo (traditional comic storytelling) took place.
Why don’t you stop in Kawasaki and enjoy its seasonal taste!!!
